I grew up in Avon, Ohio and attended The Ohio State University for pre-veterinary and veterinary school and  graduated in 1974. I was in private practice for 3 months after graduation in Canton Ohio and then on active duty in the Air Force as the Base Veterinarian at Plattsburgh Air Force Base, NY. I was on Air Force active duty from August 1974 through August 1976 and then joined the faculty in the Veterinary Technology Program at the then St. Petersburg Junior College in August 1976. I was also in private practice in Seminole, Florida as part owner from November 1977 till October 2001. I passed the examination to become a Certified Veterinary Practice Manager in 1994. I am married with 2 children and a Boston Terrier. My hobbies include bike riding, golfing and fishing.
