I have been teaching at the college & university level for almost 20 years.  Following academic guidelines, I have developed course outlines & curriculum for non-western and western art history, art studio, art administration & humanities classes.

I have been awarded an NEH Challenge Grant administered by Valencia Community College Foundation.  Titled "African Continuatives in African-American Culture," my proposal enabled me to travel throughout the American southeast investigating continuities between sub-Saharan African societies & African-American culture.

I continued to research the African Diaspora, currently concentrating on the state of Florida.  As an outgrowth of this study, I have developed an interest in Florida artists which began with the African-American artists known as the Florida Highwaymen.  This research has expanded to include the artistic influences of Hudson River School artists on Florida landscape painter A.E. Backus, a Florida Artists Hall of Fame inductee & painter mentor of early Florida Highwaymen.

My community involvement includes being a seated At-Large Board Member of the Greater Brandon Arts Council, Brandon, Florida.  My activites with the Greater Brandon Arts Council includes serving on the Brush Strokes Awards for Excellence in the Arts committee.
