I have an M.A. from USF in English Literature, specializing in early-twentieth-century immigrant narratives.  I have also repeatedly written about popular culture including an article on the film Avatar by James Cameron. I believe in active and cooperative learning and in teaching my writing classes in workshop fashion.  I do some lecturing, but try to act as a coach more than a traditional professor.  I also believe in doing a lot of one-on-one instruction either during class or during office hours as good writing skills are often best learned in this fashion.
