Susan Robinson teaches Music History, Opera Workshop, Music Appreciation, and applied voice and piano at St. Petersburg College.  She also conducts the SPC College Community Chorus.  In addition, Dr. Robinson is Director of Orchestral Activities at the University of Tampa. At UT she also teaches World Music, Music Theory and Music Appreciation. Dr. Robinson teaches an opera series at Eckerd College for the OLLI program.

She is Conductor and Music Director of the Pinellas Youth Symphony.  Their recent repertoire includes Francesca de Rimini and Symphonies 4  and 5 by Tchaikovsky, Overture to Die Meistersinger, Symphony No. 9 "From the New World" by Dvorak, Scherezade, Petruschka, Pines of Rome, Firebird Suite, Appalachian Spring and Capriccio Espagnol.  In 2008, the PYS had its first European performance tour.  

Robinson is in demand as a guest conductor.  She has had recent engagements with the National Radio Orchestra in Moldova, Camerata Europaea in Berlin Germany, Filharmonica Muntenia in Targoviste Romania, West Bohemian Symphony Orchestra in the Czech Republic, State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, Vidin Philharmonic Orchestra in Bulgaria, The Florida Orchestra, San Angelo Symphony (TX), Spokane Symphony (WA), Skagit Symphony (WA), Long Bay Symphony (SC), Dubuque Symphony Orchestra (IA), Fayetteville Symphony (NC), St. Petersburg Symphony Congress Orchestra in Russia, Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic in the Czech Republic, and Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra (FL).  In addition, she has worked with the Las Cruces Symphony, Lubbock Symphony, Amarillo Symphony, Idaho Falls Symphony, and Denver Symphony.

Originally from Pennsylvania, Robinson has conducted instrumental and vocal ensembles throughout the United States and Europe, and has enjoyed much success as a music director in professional and educational theatres.  Robinson has earned a Ph.D. in fine arts/orchestral conducting from Texas Tech University, a M.M. in choral/orchestral conducting from Ball State University, and a B.A. in music performance from Susquehanna University.

Robinson has been invited to participate in the Dmitris Metropoulos International Conducting Competition in Greece, the "Mario Gusella" International Competiiton in Italy, and the Kirill Kondrashin International Competition for Young Conductors in the Netherlands.  She was the only American finalist in the 2002 Vakhtang Jordania International Conducting Competition.

In the academic environment, Dr. Robinson has over twenty years of teaching experience at the college/university level.  She has served alternately as both Director of Instrumental and Director of Choral Activities.  Her courseload has included Chamber Choir, Concert Choir, Show Choir, Jazz Band, Concert Band, Pep Band, music appreciation, music history, music theory, ethnomusicology, humanities, class piano, class voice, and private lessons at other colleges and universities in Kansas, Michigan, and Florida.

As a stage musical director, Robinson has conducted works such as Dirty, Rotten Scoundrels, Amahl and the Night Visitors, Man of La Mancha, West Side Story, My Fair Lady, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Urinetown, The Sound of Music, Little Shoppe of Horrors, South Pacific, Once on This Island and many others.  She feels strongly about education and remains active as a clinician, working with young conductors, and vocal and instrumental ensembles both locally and throughout the United States.
