I have always been a teacher in some way or another. I began working with youth with behavioral problems for many years. In the last ten years I decided to fulfill a life dream, and finish the necessary degrees to teach college. I have been teaching at USF and at St. Petersburg College for the past six years. To me, teaching is the most important and valuable profession - and learning is the key to a life that continues to evolve.
I believe that "it is never too late to become the person you might you have been" and in lifelong learning.
My teaching style tends to be informal, but structured. I give mini lectures, and like to structure the class as a conversation, engaging with the material. I see my role as a facilitator, and that in this learning community, we both learn from each other.
My B. A. degree is in Sociology, my M. A. in Religious Studies, and I am all but dissertation in the Communication Department at USF - meaning that I am finishing my dissertation and hope to have my Ph.D. by June of 2008.
