SPC English EAP:
  1. Promotes Proficient Communicating, Certificate & Degree Completion, Professional Success 
  2. Courses are accredited (unlike non-credit Community-Based ESOL taught in Local Community Centers or Libraries)
  3. Courses comply with state curriculum, tuition and fees - thus, enrollment costs qualify for financial aid in some cases
  4. Required coursework includes writing academic essays, listening to academic lectures and writing notes, presenting oral speeches, reading and analyzing academic texts (short and long), research reading and writing, analyzing and testing of grammatical structures, vocabulary acquisition and learning by prefixes, suffixes, and roots, completing quizzes, tests, exams, and more.

New students will take a placement test for their English skills LOEP  English Test, with only 3 exceptions:
1. Serving active military duty
2. Completed a GED
3. Graduated from a Florida high school in regular non-ESOL classes WITH a “standard” high school diploma.

Score results determine starting Course level of Academic English (EAP) required:
  • 9-credit Integrated ESL Grammar-Writing-Reading lowest level is 2 Basic (EAP0295) - highest level is 6 Advanced (EAP1695)
  • 3-credit Integrated Listening-Speaking lowest level is 2 Basic (EAP0200) - highest level is 5 Advanced (EAP1500)
  • 3-credit English Pronunciation is also available for enrichment and accent-reduction (Advanced EAP1501).

  • Students enrolled in 12 credit hours of EAP will be considered full-time students. 
  • EAP1695 & EAP1500 earn "ELECTIVE" but *NOT GEN ED* credits for some / not all college degree programs (ask your Advisor)
FIRST STEPS: NON-VISA STUDENT, RESIDENT of FLORIDA (Non-International), U.S. Citizen
  • Apply ONLINE to become a new student: https://www.spcollege.edu/future-students/admissions/ (takes 10 to 15 minutes, asks for your new temporary password, requires payment of a $40 non-refundable application fee)
  • ONE YEAR IN-STATE FLORIDA RESIDENTS pay LOWER TUITION
  • If you are a Florida resident, you need to establish residency in the online application process to qualify for lower tuition. 
  • Provide valid ID numbers for 2 documents, issued at least 12 months before the first day of your classes:
  • Examples: Florida Driver’s License or Florida ID, Florida Vehicle Registration, Florida Voter’s Registration
  • If you are a dependent student (you are under 24): You will need to provide documents of a parent or legal guardian (or, provide documents indicating your independence.) However, if you do NOT provide 2 above items in online application, you will be classified at that time as a non-resident of Florida. You may LATER provide documentation for FLORIDA resident classification for tuition purposes by mail or in-person. All documentation for Florida resident status will be verified. If you need to show more documentation, you will be notified. SECOND STEPS for NEW STUDENTS:
Test, Enroll, and Pay for your courses. All of these can now be completed online. See PAYMENT details below.
  • You will SOON be asked to have your high school and / or college transcripts evaluated. Ask your Advisor for more information.

SUBMIT PAYMENT for Tuition and Fees: Account not paid by PAYMENT DUE DATE? Your name will drop from class; re-enrollment required.    
  • Three ways to submit payment
  1. You may join Tuition PAYMENT Plan.
  2. You may make PAYMENT all at once online.
  3. If you have financial assistance (FAFSA), please ask online about payments.
  • Note: Seniors (60+) can enroll at a discount Friday before a class starts after completing admissions, waiver form, and speaking with an Advisor.
