My name is Dr. Laurel Cobb.  I received a bachelor's degree from the University of Florida and a PhD in Accounting from the University of Florida.  I have presented papers in various regional and national conferences and been published in accounting research journals.  Although I have been teaching for over 20 years, I am still excited about teaching.

I also have had experience in the "real world" as an auditor. I loved that experience. I happen to believe that the accounting profession is vital to the world's economic health. My other work experience includes time with my family's local newspaper for which I was Publisher/Editor. That meant I had to hire employees, pay company bills, make a profit, etc, etc. So, I think I have a little understanding of the use of accounting information both as a preparer and as a user of the financial statements. I actually think this stuff is fun - not easy - but, fun!

I don't work all the time, however; not by a long shot!  Hiking, gardening, fishing and cooking provide me with  many happy hours.  Most importantly, I'm a wife, mother and grandmother - that's the best of all!
