Program Summary

Program Summary
This teacher preparation program combines college coursework related to the elementary content, the pedagogy of teaching and practical, school-based experiences to prepare you for professional certification to teach in an elementary classroom grade K-6. Graduates earn a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education (K-6) and will be endorsed in both Reading an ESOL. Courses with an * include school-based hours.

Admission Rules

- An A.A. degree (or transcripts showing 60 credits from a regionally accredited school)
- Completion of the state-mandated prerequisites with a grade of C or higher
- A cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.00 scale in all college classes
- Passing scores from all sections of Florida's General Knowledge test

For admission and graduation a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher is required.

Graduation Rules

GRADE OF "C" OR HIGHER REQUIRED FOR ALL COURSES

CULTURAL DIVERSITY: (6 credits)
Six credits with an international or diversity focus. This requirement may have been satisfied in the first 60 semester hours.

FOREIGN LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:
Two consecutive years in high school or one year of college instruction in a single foreign language.

G.P.A.:
For admission and graduation a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher is required.

Completing all program requirements, including ESOL, demonstrating competency in the Florida Educator Accomplished Practices (FEAPS) at the pre-professional level, passing all sections of the Florida Teacher Certification Examination (FTCE), and passing the final internship are conditions of graduation.
